Any Issues with Nuvi 5.50 Update?

Hello -

I am preparing for a trip to Texas, and found out that a nuvi update is available, 5.50.

Has anyone updated to this release? Are there any issues? I would hate to apply this update and find out that it renders my Nuvi inoperable before my trip.

Thanks!

No issues here on my nuvi 350

I updated it using Webupdater and now the nagging screen that my maps were outdated (even though I had a 2009 map update) no longer comes up. Satellite acquisition is still the same (approx 2 minutes from a cold boot). No issues at all.

No problems...

I updated last week and have had no problems.

i've installed it on mine

i've installed it on mine too and it seems fine as well.

I used the webupdater on my 350 for the first time. Previously I manually downloaded the updates, so I updated to 5.5 (from 5.2, I think) and the GPS firmware to 3.0 from whatever was built in.

It takes quite a bit longer to get a warm fix now, when I leave from work. Anyone else see this? Any ideas which to revert back to?

Yes, I've also found that

Yes, I've also found that 5.2 gave me the fastest gps fix. I was experimenting and seeing if 4.6's firmware would be better. I try to load it on and it gave me a white screen and right now it is at Garmin getting it fixed since it is only my 4th week of owning it. If you want to see older nuvi firmware here is the site.

I do not take any responsibility if you get a white screen or any other problems.

Is The Mp3 Skipping Problem Fixed?

Do you have mp3 alerts while using the unit's mp3 player without track skipping? http://www.poi-factory.com/node/10640
Please, let me know!

No, Its Not

I sent Garmin Support an email (I wanted an answer in writing to post here) 2 days ago asking for a status on a resolution to this problem. So far, no reply.

That's bothersome because they have been responsive in the past when I sent emails with questions.

I've removed my custom alert mp3s and gone back to the default sounds.

Thanks To All

So, I pulled the trigger and did the update. The update went fine. The screen did a little "hop skip and jump" as it loaded for the first time (I do not remember seeing that before on other updates). But, eventually it came up fine.

This morning, I tested it out with a trip from my home to PHL airport. I didn't notice a difference in aquire time, and the routing was fine. The second leg of my journey was from IAH airport to College Station TX. Interesting finding - the last time I did this trip, it took FOREVER to lock on in this location (1200 miles away from where I took off). And I had trouble keeping it locked on during the shuttle bus trip to the rent-a-car place. This time - I was on the tarmac, making no effort to reposition to 350 to the window, just holding it in my lap, and it locked as quick as any other time. And, no problems on the bus - held in my lap, watching the trip.

So - I do not know if the update had anything to do with this obvious change, but I thought it worth noting anyway.

Thanks to all for the feedback.

Regards - S4TP
