Trying to update (not enough free space)

Ok I'm new to all this GPS stuff so I'm sorry if this has been answered already. I've searched through here but I can't seem to find the answer I'm looking for. I'm trying to do this update: map update 2009.exe. But I keep getting a message that says I don't have enough free space and that I need an additional 42 MB to continue. What do I need to do? Is it just as simple as going out and buying an SD card?
which unit do you have?

I don't have that unit but if memory serves me I remember a discussion that the 200 has a limited amount of memory. Most don't load the Canada maps.

How ironic.
Nuvi 660 -- and not upgrading it or maps until Garmin fixes long-standing bugs/problems, and get maps to where they are much more current, AND corrected on a more timely basis when advised of mistakes.
Update
Connect you nuvi to your computer.
Back-up your nuvi's files to your computer.
Delete voices, and vehicles that you don't need from your nuvi and then the 2009 maps will install because you now have extra room on your GPSR. The 2009 map file is larger than the 2008 map file
