how to find coordinates for road intersections

Hi, Im new at this gps thing and was wonder what can I use to find coordinates by road intersections.

Coordinates

If you use Google Earth, You just type in the two cross streets, ie. 4th St. & Main St., Anywhere, NY. It will put you in the middle of the intersection and the coordinates will appear in the bottom left. Be sure to set the options to show decimal degrees.

.

Here are a couple of websites that can be used, as well.

http://itouchmap.com/latlong.html

http://www.gorissen.info/Pierre/maps/googleMapLocation.php

Also, if you have MapSource, you can click a Waypoint on any point on the map and get the coordinates.

Or you can go to where to

Or you can go to where to >>>>> intersections and put in the info, BUT it can be tricky to figure out the way it is inputted, Garmin does strange things sometimes,

Ralphy, thanks for bringing this up. I've been using Google Earth to help me build some POI files. When doing what you explained, I find that the lat/lon numbers at the bottom left are for the location of the mouse pointer, not the location I have searched for. I have to move the mouse pointer to the "square marker" (may not be the right word) that shows the location I searched for.

Is there a way to change that display? I looked in Tools>Options and didn't see anything that looked like it would change that. A couple times, I almost took the wrong lon/lat numbers until I remembered to move the mouse pointer. Thanks!

I just noticed that if I move the mouse pointer off the aerial view to any other part of the screen, the lon/lat displayed is for the searched location.

Getting the coordinates

I play with it a little and when you get the place your looking for it should have a yellow balloon marker. Click the yellow balloon marker and then right click it you should see option (it kind of hard to right click it). Then click properties and it should give you the coordinates. Thanks guy for other sites and how to find coordinates.

Yellow balloon marker

The yellow balloon marker is actually a yellow push pin. When you click on its icon, two things happen: the first is that a yellow push pin appears that is centered on whatever view you're looking at; and the second is that a "properties" window opens which has the longitude/latitude of the tip of the push pin. If you position your mouse at the very tip of the push pin, the five-fingered hand turns into a one-finger pointing hand and you can drag the push pin to the EXACT location you want and have its coordinates displayed.
