Making Space on The Nuvi 260

I have just finished doing the 2009 map update and noticed that the units memory seems to be getting quite full. When connected to my computer the folder for the Garmin drive shows a size of 1.21, then "Used 1.14" and
"Available 70.1 MB"
Is there any benefit from freeing up some of the space in the memory and if so, what is safe to remove from the memory, for example, in the "Help" folder I have all the extra languages, can these be removed. It is the same with the "Voice" folder, can I safely delete all the unused extra languages?

Yes

Yes, but you should probably back up the drive before you start deleting. My question would be why bother. Unless you plan on filling it up with music or pictures, you won't gain anything. You have more space than you will probably ever need for POI's and a reasonable amount of music or books.

Hi Bentbiker, Thanks to this

Hi Bentbiker, Thanks to this board I already had a back up of my drive before I did the update and when I had finished updating the unit I made a second and seperate back up. (belt and braces. )
My unit does not play music or read books but does have a picture viewer. I don't use that feature, I just wanted a GPS. It just seemed that after the update my "free space " seems to have shrunk.
I will leave the unit as it is for a while and see if all runs well
Thanks.

I wouldn't worry about

I wouldn't worry about freeing up any space. That is enough to use the GPSr. If you want to add musice, etc. then yes, but until then, there is no need.
