Navigon 5100 - trouble getting poi's to show up

I've dowloaded the poi's for Target Stores from this site, for example, and synched the asc and bmp files to the Navigon via PoiWarner. When I pull up the screen in POIWarner, on the Navigon, to pick one of the stores, there are no stores listed - just the catagory name. All of the POI groups come up the same way. What am I doing wrong?

Navigon All Models - trouble getting poi's to show up

Thanks to bm_ninada for this tutorial!

www.POIedit.com
- Download POI-Edit s/w (above)
- Open the CSV file in POI-Edit.
- Select Garmin CSV format.
Some formats might fail to open, open the CSV file in WordPad and delete the "" surrounding the desc. (Do Replace-all: ")
- Save it and open again in POI-EDITOR.
- The file, thus opened, save as Generic CSV format, somewhere locally.
Once you have created your POI list (in your local PC) containing a bunch of CSV + BMP files - just copy-paste them into POI-Warner/pois folder of the SD card.
- Unplug the Navigon from USB, it boots itself.
- Once POI-Warner opens it'll synchronize the newly placed POI dB. So, you see, you don't need the Active Sync to work.
- Now, in terms of menu items, etc. of the POI-Warner itself,
POI Management if selected from menu bar
Allows you to review POI entries per category and copy them into different category (1-by-1 only .. very sad) Also, I couldn't find any option to delete entries/categories/move to sub-categories/etc.
The other 2 POI options (from menu bar) control the type of POI to display on map (they are called overlays in POI-Warner parlance) The volume of alert, etc. Normally, I select a singular generic option across all POIs in terms of when to sound the 1st. warning, the last warning, etc. Also the tiny +/- button besides the list-box opens the whole category listing and I check-mark those I want to be able to see on the map (starbucks, speed-cams, red-light cams, etc.)
Finally,do a "Start Monitoring" and that's it - there's a small green box on the screen.
- Tapping it opens a menu item (like a right-click) and you can select from there whether you want to view the POI-Warner main control page.
- In maps, tapping the green sq. opens a screen showing buttons (which are quite self explanatory)
- If you select search nearby - ALL it'll take some time to load
- Sometime, you forget to re-enable monitoring after making changes in POI-Warner main screen and tapping the green button does nothing... looks as if frozen; but in reality you've just forgotten to click the monitoring back on.
- Once data you had put, has been placed in Warner's database (a ndb file) the associated csv files are transformed into .bak files (do NOT remove them, throws a strange German lang. error on screen)
- Note - Warner does NOT bypass PIN code screen, if active @ Navigon.
- At map level, once you're near a POI you had marked as display on map (overlay) nears - you'll get an audible warning ; the same warning again repeats as you near the POI. (In most cases the last warning generates some funky German error, just click okay or de-select option to give last warning)

Thanks so much for all the help. I'll jump right in a try it out!

Navigon All Models - trouble getting poi's to show up

Ok. That seems to work great. Now, when I select one of them to view the details, under POI Management on the Navigon (you can tell I'm new at this), I get a notice that says, "This overlay must first be registered with the POI-sync-partner's setup file. Please contact your POI-sync-partner to get this startup file." Where do I get this file? Thanks again.

Navigon 5100 with POI Warner

My situation has gone from bad to worse. I have installed the latest Navigon update to my 5100 (Presumably at least, since I can't figure out how to verify that the installation was successful) and since then, POI Warner will not start on the Navigon. I reinstalled POI Warner as recommended. I'm trying it on my Vista-based desktop instead of my laptop and it can't find the card or Navigon, no matter which way I do it. Help!

Use the sync tool

Use the sync tool and un-install POI-Warner, then reinstall it. when you upgraded the Navigon software to 1.2 it rendered POI-Warner inoperable. The above will fix your problem.
As far as the problem with Vista is concerend I don't have an answer for you. The MSN Sync might not be compatable with Vista or you might need to download a version for it. I suggest using your laptop till you remedy that problem.

If after you installed the navigon update 1.2 start up the Navigon, if it starts and runs, then the update was successful.

CSV or ASC?

Bob, Did the directions you forwarded really mean to change from Garmin CSV to Generic CSV? I thought Navigon used .asc.

CSV

Generic CSV is what you want, the navigon will make the proper conversion upon boot up.

Just follow the instructions line for line.
