That would be software piracy, but it won't work -- the map is linked to the serial number of the unit. If they allowed what you describe, they'd sell one copy of each map and everybody else would have them for free.

Nuvi 660 -- and not upgrading it or maps until Garmin fixes long-standing bugs/problems, and get maps to where they are much more current, AND corrected on a more timely basis when advised of mistakes.

For one thing

For one thing the 200W has too small a memory chip for all of North America. It only has room for either Canada or the lower 48 states, not both. And as stated above, the maps are coded with an unlock key that is only issued to that unit's ID number... it won't work in any other unit. When you buy add on maps or upgrades, they come with a similar unlock key.

You can only copy US/Can map

You can only copy US/Can map on SD-card, unlock it and use with 200W. The US/Can map is a bit bigger than the internal memory of the unit (200W).

Not true. You can't copy the map from one unit and use it on another unit.

Does the lower 48 exclude Maine?

Actually, it has room for the lower 49 plus PR.

Ok... my 260 has them all so I was just repeating what I've seen posted many times before, both here and on other GPS sites. They always say "lower 48". Are you saying that Hawaii is included?

The way it is phrased for my 200 is lower 48 plus Hawaii and Puerto Rico. Never have I heard lower 49 although Hawaii is at a low latitude.

nuvi 200 | lifetime maps

Hawaii and Puerto Rico are on the nüvi 200

Yes,

Hawaii and Puerto Rico are on the nüvi 200, in addition to the contiguous 48 states.
