POI display on nuvi 750

zoom in

I have tried that already and it doesn't work for me. Am I missing something? I am using 3D view.

At least, not the built in ones. They are suppressed. They appear as dots on the screen when you select more or higher in map detail.

The item's in your favorites will show as dots or flags unless you change the icon with ezgps or mapsource.

The custom POI's that have a .BMP associated with them will display on the screen if you are zoomed in far enough.

I'm pretty sure MM posted in another thread that you can't see them in 3D view even if you zoom in.

I am sure you have to be in 2D mode and have most detail selected and zoomed in to see them on the Nuvi 750. I have tried it and they are so small that you would need a pointer to activate them to see whats there. The custom POIs can be displayed better but built in ones are almost useless. Best bet is to ignore them and go by the POI list and then make a separate POI as favorite or your added POI so you can have a bigger icon to see it on the map. The 2008 map does not seem to show shopping centers either but some individual stores so no sense looking for the display. Personal y I would like to see the malls at least. Search this site for custom/favorite POI display (some good articles on how to available).

I don't know if you can. However, if they all did show up, your screen would be overloaded and you couldn't see anything.

Now your POI's that you put into your Favorites will show up and you can change icons for them.

I'm sure your screen would be a little busy looking if all 6 million POI's were displayed on your Garmin.
Also, just a "POI" (Point Of Information)
My Garmin 780 has a map detail setting with five levels but I have never taken it off the mid normal level. You might want to see what your level is at if you are still unable to display YOUR POI's that you created in favorites.

That is one good thing about the laptop based GPS systems I have played with, you can pick and choose what category of POI to display.

I have microsoft streets & maps with GPS receiver and have thought seriously about building a simple PC with an old motherboard (old PC i discarded due to upgrades) using a 12V DC power supply and an 8" touchscreen display and using it for my car GPS.

But knowing me, I'd be using it to play DVD's going down the road (you can buy window vizors with TVs and displays in them)...

Screen size makes a huge difference between a laptop and a GPSr.

Along with the 2009 Map update, there was a firmware update for the nüvi 750 that puts the scale on the screen in navigation mode. It also appears to let the scale be changed while driving where as prior to the upgrade any attempt to change the zoom scale was almost instantly "corrected". (Of course, without the scale to help, you could only guess at how much to try to zoom in.)
