Alert volume on the Nuvi 750

Just got the Nuvi 750 and love it. However, the volume on the alerts is too high. The normal level is fine for navigation, but when the alerts for the custom POIs cuts in, WOW. I mean to the point of vibrating the speaker.

How do I turn this down? I have tried the different levels in the tools area. The only one that works is the master volume, but that also turns down the navigation level. Anyone?

Do you use the MP3 player?

The custom POI alerts are MP3 files....so if you play music, and that's too loud too, on the menu screen, hit the 'tools' icon, then the "settings"; then "volume" and adjust the level of "Media" to a level equal to, or slightly less than the 'navigation' level.

Will tyr it

Keith,

Thanks for the input. I will try that. However, I have noticed that the "bong" for the standard alert is also louder than the normal voice and was wanting to know if there was a setting in the diagnostics that controls the alert volume? If so, which one is it?

Well, That didn't work

I tried reducing the volume on every level and still got the .mp3 alerts full blast unless I turned down the master volume. Of course then I couldn't hear anything.

Guess I will be contacting Garmin to see if they will tell me.

.

If you are talking about the MP3 alert sound volume, you can use software like MP3Gain to reduce the volume of the alert sounds before you load them.

Well, That didn't work

It is probably just the poi alert file being recorded with the volume set too high. Try another POI alert and see if it is better. I have not had any problem with the red light alert volume.

That one too

I have that one and the school alert, both are too high. However, my main concern is that the standard alert without an MP3 files tends to rattle the speaker also.

Was wanting to know if there was a way to lower that particular volume setting?

I've noticed the volume is

I've noticed the volume is pretty high as well...resulting in startling moments

All things are relative..

I measured it. 83dBspl was the answer

that's 3dB up on the Nüvi 3xx series. 11dB down on the StreetPilot C5xx.

(All measured at a distance of 1 Metre)

Alert volume

I thought I remembered seeing a thread about this. Glad I looked. I've been getting blasted out of my seat by the red light alert I have. I'll be driving to work, listening to an audio book and then, BLAM! The unit starts YELLING at me about an upcoming camera.

From the reply above it looks like I simply need to open it up in a wave editor and reduce the volume and send it with the latest update.

I love being able to find answers to questions of this sort.
