is it possible to get a lifetime membership traffic for the 660? anyone know if discounts/deals exists for these?

Lifetime -

Not that I'm aware of. I checked the Garmin web site and couldn't find a subscription greater than a year. You might call customer service to check on it. They're very helpful and customer service orientated.

A lifetime subscription is available only for MSN Direct traffic, not FM TMC.

id hate to, but.. $60 a year is $60 too much for me.

i saw an ad for this one gps that gives lifetime traffic.. if i remember what it was, ill let you guys know. i know its not a garmin, and the interphase of it looks pretty cool.. but i have to check and see how good the quality of their alerts and their maps are... so far garmin seems very decent.

and you guys are right, their customer service was awesome. the guy that helped me out with the maps update stayed with me until the end and he was very patient too. RARE!

I believe you're thinking of the Navigon GPS family
The Navigon 5100 & 7100 (please correct me if I'm wrong)offers the lifetime subscription

True - Navigon offered free

True - Navigon offered free life time traffic update with selected models but those units had BAD review. I had a choice of getting a Navigon 5100 and Nuvi 350 for the same price.
Even though I really wanted Navigon (mostly because of their lifetime free traffic and flash based realistic road view), I went with Garmin because of all the bad reviews.
