Voice Alerts, directing you in the wrong direction.

I have a puzzling problem.

I have made a few POI's, and all are working well. I have run them through Simulation mode, to check them out on my GPS when complete. I have a few where my Voice Alert tells me, "Your destination is on the right". When really it's on the Left? I have converted these online and Verified these coordinates on Google Earth.

So how can I get my GPS, to tell me to make the correct turn at my destination?

Any idea's?

Wrong turn

Can you give us an example of an address that isn't working?

.

If the alert is telling you that the location is on the other side of the street, you need to adjust the coordinates still so it's on (or closer to) the other side.

Alerts on the wrong side of the street...

I've tried that, and nothing that I have done has corrected this issue. For example this is a local business (49.7825,-92.8397). When I do a route simulation from my home, I approach from the East down Duke St. I have moved the position all over and not fixed this issue, I'm stumped?

In my GPS's factory POI folder, this business is listed under another name. That company went out of business. The current business that is in the building, is a major chain in Canada and I'd like to update it in my GPS. I can't however the file is encrypted.

I truely wish all GPS Maufacturers, would allow their Pre-Loaded POI's to be Altered and Updated by the owner of the units. I have no issues with them wanting to lock the system down, but leave this file open.

Please.....

When I put those coordinates as you have them listed on my unit and approach from the east, the location is on the right and the unit correctly announces that the location is on the right.

What am I missing?

I'm the only one missing, I guess?

I don't think your missing anything, lol. I think my unit is missing something? My unit tells me, it's on the left..

Ah, well okay. Sorry about that. Hmmm ... that's very odd. Can't help with that. Sorry.

The only thing that I would add is the mantra to not treat the unit as an auto-pilot but rather as a co-pilot. And don't expect it to be 100% percent accurate 100% percent of the time. Let it get you close and then let your brain take you the rest of the way.

Just get me close....

That's all I want. For it to get me close.

I have edited, quite a few custom POI's I've downloaded. I've been wanting to update them for my small town, and release them back to the POI community.

The major issue for me was, it was tell me to look in the wrong direction on my unit. I didn't wanna release them, if they were incorrect. However, if your unit tells you the correct side of the road, maybe I'll release my updates then.

Thanks for your time....
