It will do it for any poi

It will do it for any poi that has an alert on it. The cams (if you downloaded them from here) already have alerts tied to them. Others, may or may not have alerts tied to them.

There are great threads

There are great threads about setting alerts. One is from Hornby (dang it, I misspelled that again). I can't remember the thread, but also check getting started.

If you are using the POI

If you are using the POI loader (Program from the Garmin site), it will allow you to set up the alert based on speed or distance. I am assuming that the POI Loader program is the same for all Garmin units.

.

To the OP, regular POI files do not alert by default. You must SET an alert. You can do so in a variety of ways.

If you run POI Loader in Manual Mode instead of Express Mode, you can set whatever alerts you wish.

Check out Phil's great guide for more information about alerts.

Also, be aware that alerts will only sound if you are on the road on which the POI is located, traveling in the direction of the POI, and if the POI is located sufficiently close to the road (typically 50 feet).
