OK, Now I have my own POIs loaded with Alerts BUT...

My custom poi are work great, but I thought if you got an alert for a POI, you can touch the alert and be taken there. Nothing happens by doing that.

I have Shell gas station on my route, and one is alerted nearby, I would like to just touch the icon or alert banner and ask to go there as a via point

anyone....

I never heard of that

I never heard of that feature. Perhaps on some of the more advanced models?

But a question, normally an alert goes off if you are on route past the alert location or close and approaching the side road that would take you past that location. In either case, the location should be shown on the screen, so why would you need to be routed to it as a waypoint when you can see it right there in near proximity to you, often on the same road you are already on?

Not sure why you want to be alerted

I'm not sure why you want to be alerted at every Shell gas station. If you don't have your alerts set, and are looking for a gas station, go to your custom POI for Shell Gas Stations and it will show you the 50 closest to your location ranked in order of distance. By selecting one, you will be routed to that location. If you are on a longer route, you can select is as a stop on your trip.

Sorry, Tiffany, the POIs on Garmin units do not work that way. Unfortunately, neither touching the top bar nor the POI icon will bring up the Custom POI screen. You would have to manually bring it up using the menus. The alerts simply serve to notify you that you are near a location. What you do with that information is a second step.

thank you
