ADDRESS

Hi if you don't know the address of a place you are trying to fined can you just put down the name even if you don't know the street or coordinates.Lucky

.

It would be hard to define a point or find a place without having either the address or the coordinates.

Can you search out the address by Googling the name and the city in which it is located?

How about visually searching Google Maps (or Google Earth) or your GPS unit and seeing if you can come up with the coordinates?

use "Spell Name" option

you can search without an address ... goto "Where to"/"Spell Name"

If you know the town and use the "Near..." function, you can minimize search times and have a better chance of finding it.

Try this

Where To>
Points of Interest>
Spell Name>

Lucky, what exactly are you trying to do. MM assumes you are trying to find info to build a POI, and the other assume you have a POI on your GPSr and you are trying to pull it up as a destination

.

Yes, that's what I, probably incorrectly, assumed.

browse map

Or you can go to the browse map and find the place your looking for then save it,
(this is providing it isnt to far away, otherwise you may be there a while draging your finger across the screen)

address

I mean that if you are in a city or town and you are looking for a hockey rink but you don't know the street or the coordinates can you just put down the name of the rink even if you don't have a poi in your gps Lucky

ADDRESS

Google the name and city and it will probably give you the location with a link to google maps. Using it you can obtain the coordinates.

If you know the name (or part of the name) and IF that name is the name by which it is listed in the map database and IF it is contained in the map database, then you should be able to search by NAME on the GPS unit.

That's a lot of IF's :D

That's a lot of IF's grin

You might also try

You might also try the software program "POI Harvester" where you just need the name and a Zip Code.
A thread on POI Harvester can by found by doing a search.
I have used it a couple of times - not the greatest but it is functional !

Yep, because it's not as simple as just saying, "Yes, you can search by the name."

: )

Hint, be as basic as

Hint, be as basic as possible when searching by name, for instance, use "barnes" and not "barnes and noble"
