Nuvi 7xx Undocumented Feature

It is easy to get frustrated when you go deep into the different sub menus on the Nuvi then try to get back to the "Main Menu" page. One has to press the "Back" key over and over until the "Main Menu" is finally reached.
Solution:
When you are done what you are doing in the sub-menus, press and hold the "Back" key for 1 to 2 seconds, it will take you straight back to the "Main Menu".

There's not much documented in the 200 manual, but that's one of the few things that is. I'm surprised it's not in the 700's manuals.

Glad you found that feature.

For those who have the 7xx series, this is documented on the Preface page i of the manual.

That is cool, I never knew

That is cool, I never knew that you could do that, it works on the 350 as well. But I wish it didn't take as long of a hold as it does. nevertheless, cool find.

Also works in 6xx series nuvi

That feature also works in the 6xx nüvi series. A handy thing to know when buried deep into subfolders.

All Garmin Units

I was under the impression that feature was built into all of the Garmin units. I knew about that from the start. I beleive it was documented in my c530 manual.

Thank you for posting. I am too lazy to really sit down and find it myself.

How About the Map Page?

That's a nice feature, but I want to return directly to the map page and guidance mode. Does anyone know if that's possible?
thx,
Jen

.

Nope. It's not possible.

(Well, not on most models, anyway. The Zumo has a set of hard buttons on the left side. One of them is the "Page" button It allows you to cycle through the pages/screens. So, it takes you right back to the Map screen.)

That is what POI Factory is

That is what POI Factory is for, rather hear it from experienced users (and friendly) rather then a boring manual.

Manual?

What manual? LOL....

.

We recently had a discussion on the Zumo forum about men not reading the manual.

Here's a snippet of the conversation.

MM: If everyone would follow Hopz's admonition to read the manual, you will find this procedure listed on page 19 of the updated user manual.

Of course, I do realize that we are dealing mostly with men here, so I understand that that's a fairly unreasonable expectation.

Male User: Read the manual? That's crazy talk, it's so much easier to ask the questions on these forums and get the answer.

Male User #2: There's a manual??

MM: Yes. It's a novel concept. The guys that create said electronic device actually write down words explaining how said electronic device works and some of its features so that the guys who use said electronic device can completely ignore the contents of said manual and then complain to other such users that said electronic device doesn't have this feature or that feature. Seems to work well in the male community.

Do you need me to print it out and come read it to you?

Male User #2: Yes, PLEASE! Would you? Or if you could arrange for Aussie Karen TTS to read to me, perhaps...

To which I responded by posting Karen's website and video interview that was posted here.

So, I give up trying to get people to read the manual.

: )

That was great, perhaps I

That was great, perhaps I should join that forum just for the laughs...lol

Women may or may not be smarter than men, which has been the subject of many heated debates. But I'm convinced that a woman is more aware of her smarts than a man is of his. wink

I do as little as possible for both. However, right now, it is very slow at work, so I can post every now and then.

I am here a lot less when I am actually busy at work...lol.

the best part about a new gadget is to figure out how it works without reading the manual.
