Brott, Forgive me for

Brott,

Forgive me for bringing up an old thread, but I'm new here. I was under the impression that there already was a default alert setting in the files. I didn't get any option to enable proximity alerts when I used the POI loader. They just loaded and I got the standard "you loaded x number of POIs" when done. Is there anything else I need to do? I don't know of any cameras around here, but there will be some where I'm going over the holidays and I want to make sure the alerts are set to go off. I won't have a computer with me so I can't make changes while on vacay.

Thanks in advance!

Look carefully

Use Manual mode to specify default speed and proximity alert information as needed.

Red Camera Alert

After you have loaded the POI, the gpsr will do the rest. The proximity warning is set in the upload of the red camera poi.So when you are approaching one of these little bandits, you should hear a warning and on my Garmin c340, a red light arcross the top saying red light camera ahead.

Hope this answers your question, but I guess it might be different in each gpsr.

Ok, so it's pretty much fire

Ok, so it's pretty much fire and forget after uploading the files from here? Nothing else needs to be do to enable the alerts as suggested in the post before yours, alanrobin1?

redlight in file name

redlight in file name will produce the default 1319ft
manual mode will allow you to change that to say 500ft or 1500ft if you wish.

There is info in the poi loader help file, and as well as various threads here.

Sorry, new here too...

Question regarding: "Look carefully
Use Manual mode to specify default speed and proximity alert information as needed."

I just baught a Nuvi 350. So the manual mode in Garmin's POI Loader or is there a toggle in the GPS itself... Thanks in advance, Luke

The the manual mode (in POI

The the manual mode (in POI Loader) will let you set a specified distance. If you choose express mode (in POI Loader), it will default to 1319'.

Once done, go to your settings on your GPS and turn ON proximity alerts.
