Mobile Speed Camera

Today while driving on W McDowell road in Avondale, AZ saw this van pulling out in front of me. One huge flash and camera mounted on top. The van was labeled as "Mobile Enforcement Camera" Hard to put coordinates on that fella.......

Mobile Speed Camera

We have one of these vans in Red Bank (just north of Chattanooga, TN). It is just a white van, sitting and waiting. It makes pretty pictures that you receive in the mail. They charge plenty for those pics. One guy at work got two within a month before we knew about the van. Be careful if you travel to our city and cross the river and enter Red Bank.

I can;t believe the way states use these tactics in the name of safety. When it is all just a way of generating revenue.
There was a story going around that some smart kids Stole the plates from one of these vans and put them on their car..and sped by the van about 6 times...the Van Sent 6 tickets to itself...smile

Then what do you expect the punishment to be? I'm pretty sure if a cop pulls you over for speeding, you will get a ticket that you will have to pay. Not only that, it goes on your record. Explain to me why generating revenue automatically makes this, in your mind, a scam?

I can't speak for everyone, but I think they are a scam because they (those who put the cameras up) are not concerned with safety. I have heard of several studies which show that accidents actually increase with red light cameras, but they keep putting them up.

Also, in Albuquerque, the news did a big story on how the city shortened the yellow lights at several of the red light camera intersections. Now, people jam on their brakes on yellow, and there are rear-end accidents all the time. People (like me) also now drive up the residential streets to avoid the cameras, which means more traffic by the kids.

The State of New Mexico started to pass a bill which would require Albuquerque to share their profits, and Albuquerque said that if it passed they would take down the cameras. If that isn't motive of profit over safety, I don't know what is.

New Mexico also has the vans. We moved from there in Feb, and I am so happy to be away from it all. The Mayor said if people didn't like the cameras, the crime, and the lack of planning they should move, so we did.
