How to get long/lat coordinates on MS Virtual Earth?

Last weekend I discovered Microsoft Virtual Earth. The resolution of its satellite imagery is very high (esp compared to Google Earth's), and its 3D views are a huge help in identifying addresses. After using Virtual Earth for a few days, I've also concluded that it returns more precise address locations than Google Earth.

The only downside is that I haven't been able to figure out a way to see long/lat coordinates on Virtual Earth screens. Google Earth shows the long/lat of the cursor position. But not Virtual Earth.

Does anyone know of a way to display long/lat coordinates on MS Virtual Earth?

I don't think it does. There is nothing on the help about it and I tried it by signing in as well. Sometimes when you send an email, it will put the Lat/Long in the URL but that is all.

Go to share and copy to clipboard. The Lat/Lon will be embedded in the link. Just paste the link in Excel and strip out all the garbage. Not ideal, but it does work.

Long/lat in MS Virtual Earth

Thanks very much, poitom. That works. I'll try to write a macro to strip out the garbage characters.

Getting Long/Lat Coordinates from MS Virtual Earth

I was able to write a macro in MS Word that pulls out long/lat coordinates from the "link" that MS Virtual Earth generates from an address.

Along the way, I discovered something else that is quite useful:

1) On the Virtual Earth image, right-click the object whose coordinates you want.

2) On the resulting drop-down menu, select "Center map here."

3) That creates coordinates for whatever you right-clicked, and embeds them into the link that Virtual Earth pastes to the Clipboard.

I'd be happy to share the macro, if anyone would be interested. But I don't know how one shares a macro.
