If you’re persistent and

If you’re persistent and real nice, you can call Garmin and let them know if there is a map update to your GPS unit. If there is, it doesn’t hurt to let Garmin you just purchased the unit and ask if they can send out the disk to you.

Current Map is called City Navigator North America NT 2008

When did you purchase your GPS unit?

Typically, if you purchased your GPS unit after the map update was released and if the unit contains the old maps, you may be eligible for a free update to the maps.

They current version of the North America maps (v2008) was released on May 1, 2007.

If you think that you are eligible for the update for free, first go to myGarmin.com and register your unit. It may tell you there whether or not you are eligible and may offer a place to order the update disk.

Because the c330 is technically on the "not eligible for a free update" list, you will likely need to call Garmin and ask them for the update. Some people have been successfully at getting it for free ; others have not.

If you aren't eligible for a free update, then you need to purchase the update disk.

One place is Provantage. Another is Amazon.com. You should be able to get it for under $60.

Be aware that the entire update will not fit on the c330. You will need to select either the lower 48 states or Canada. There is a way to load the rest on an SD card if you want to do that.
