Firmware version 2.70 for Nuvi200W for tracking

Is there someone with the firmware 2.70 version for the Nuvi200W.

With this version tracking is available for the Nuvi200W.

Thanks

Firmware/Software version

Actually I think my 200W came with version 2.6 and when I updated it became 2.9. ABOUT screen reports it as Software Version 2.90.
What do you mean by "tracking"?

Tracking for Nuvi 200 & Nuvi 200W

This is for the Nuvi 200 the Nuvi 200W can do the same but needs the 2.70 Firmware version.

UPDATE (20/11/07): Garmin have released a new firmware version which disables the hidden tracking feature. To check what version you have, go to: Menu->Settings->System->About. Here it will show you the version number. If the version number is not 3.40 it will not work. If you would like to roll back to version 3.40 to enable track logs, download the firmware HERE

To get to the track feature on the Garmin Nuvi 200, do the following:

1. Select a destination you want to drive to.
2. On your view map screen, press the Arrival time button in the bottom left corner

3. This will bring you to the Speedometer Screen. Once in this scree, press and hold the screen for 8-10 seconds over the speedometer.

4. This will bring you into the Garmin Diagnostic Menu. DO NOT change anything here. Click the Next button at the bottom.
5. At the next screen, you will see the “Logging Control” screen. Press “START RECORDING” to start recording your track

6. Once you have completed the trip, press the STOP button on the main map screen.
7. Connect your Garmin Nuvi 200 up to your computer via a USB cable.
8. Go to the Garmin Nuvi 200 drive, and browse to the X:\Garmin\Logs (Where X:\ is the disk drive of the Garmin)
9. Go into the latest created folder, and download the gps.bin file.
10. Download Nutrak from this site. Extract the contents of the zip file to a folder on your Computer
11. Go to the command prompt (Start-> Run-> “cmd”) and go to the folder where you extraced Nutrak.
12. In the command prompt type “nutrak.exe gps.bin”. This will create a .gpx file.
13. Open Google Earth
14. In Google Earth, click File, Open and browse to the .gpx file that was created.
15. You will now be able to see where you have driven in the track you have created.

It should, it works on a Nuvi 260. Be forewarned though.. if you go back to version 3.40 its like a hard reset.. your Preferences, Language, Time Zone, Favorites.. etc., will need to be re-entered.. (hint, hint.. at least, backup your Favorites)

When Tracking is enabled a small count-down timer is shown along side the Stop (tracking) button.

Each track can be replayed on your unit and/or displayed in Google Earth.

What version is my Nuvi 250W

How does one check to see what the firmware version is on my Nuvi 250W. I'm assuming that the "Software" version and "Firmware" version is one and the same!

I loaded Version 3.40 and attempted to see it it would show the version via the "hidden" menu. Nada! It didn't give me the tracking option either. Doing something wrong; or something that's not possible?

Checked at GpsPassion; and they say it is possible to obtain the tracking option!

Shows Version 2.90 - where is the Version 3.40?

Found it! I wasn't going into system. Dah!

Says Software version 2.90. What happened to the Software version 3.40 that I allegedly loaded this morning? Will have to keep trying/reading!

Thanks.

The version 3.40 under

The version 3.40 under discussion is for the Nuvi 200.

The Nuvi 200w needs the version 2.70.

Still nobody out here to assist with version 2.70 for the Nuvi 200w?

Version 2.60 is available at:
http://gpsinformation.org/perry/nuvi/

A previous posting by MM would indicate that Garmin sometimes uses version numbers just to track stuff (distribution patterns?). Maybe 2.60 is the same.

Nuvi 660 -- and not upgrading it or maps until Garmin fixes long-standing bugs/problems, and get maps to where they are much more current, AND corrected on a more timely basis when advised of mistakes.

Have tried version 2.60, no

Have tried version 2.60, no cigar, it must be version
2.70.

Thanks anyway!

.

Yeah, there's no 2.70 available as a download.

This might be the same problem that users of the non-wide 2x0

This might be the same problem that users of the non-wide 2x0 nüvis have. The last two updates were only available with WebUpdater and there is no way to download them for manual installation or to go back a version.

Hey there,

I have a Nuvi260W I am trying to downgrade the firmware such that I can get track logs. (it has 3.10 which is apparently latest for the 260W)

I can't seem to find the firmware I need anywhere for the 260W though anywhere.

Does anyone have any suggestions?? Has anyone got this hidden track log feature actually working on a 260W ?

I found that if i install

I found that if i install the 250W 2.60 software it installs properly and I have downgraded to 2.60 in settings -> about however when i go to the dash and hold down the speedo for 8 seconds i get the diag menu comes up, but its the same as before. there is no "logging control" menu ?? ideas ??

The 260 does not support track logs or routes.

lord chut wrote:

The 200 and 260 share many features, however they are different as far as their capabilities. Garmin software for each of the models is different and you cannot add features by changing the software from one model to the next.

Your 260W has the same restrictions as a 200 for voice alerts in that the alert sound files must be a wav file. The POI-Factory has recently started converting the MP3 alert files to WAV. Using a WAV file requires an additional piece of software be stored in the same directory or folder as the POILoader.exe file. When you specify a WAV file as the alert sound or message, the program SOX.EXE will convert it automatically and store it in your Garmin with the POI file.
