Is there a reason Nuvi 680 prices are dropping?

I think they are not very durable..........I am on my third one in less then a year.......so I hope everyone who gets a good deal or buys them on ebay gets the extra warranty...........Dave

Price is dropping because it

Price is dropping because it is technology. When was the last time a particular computer model when up in price?

Wow you are rough on toys. My Nuvi 350 is very durable. I've dropped it off concrete a few times. I'm on almost 2 years with my Nuvi. My Garmin GPS III is from '97 and still works fine!

Never been dropped

I have never dropped my Nuvi 680 and it always just sits on the dashboard.......but it seems it is not very well made.......especially after the second one and it seems other people are having the same problem.......but so far it's only on the Nuvi 680 at least I think.................you are lucky to get so many years from your 350.........Dave

JUST CURIOUS ???

Do you leave the unit in the vehicle or do you take it out? Sometimes extreme temperatures effect the electronics.

Temps

I was going to say the same thing... I take mine out and inside with me religiously (nuvi 680), never had a problem with it and I use it an average of 12 hours a day for work.

No Problem with my nuvi 680

I have had nothing but outstanding service from my nuvi 680. It always finds the birds quick, has an excellent screen picture and is very fast in calculating routes.

I feel it's a great GPS to own.

p.s. It gets confused once in a while, but so do I.

Yes I leave it in the vehicle

Yes, I leave my Nuvi 680 in the vehicle only because I don't have enough room to carry everything everywhere I go.........but I park in a heated garage at night so the only time it's exposed to the temps is at work.........I am just so glad Best Buy offers the extended warranty and I bought it and actually pays for itself..........thanks again........Dave

Servicing

Wow, glad I didn't get that unit, so far all the posts I've seen on this thread has everyone needing to have this unit serviced or replaced.

I hope Garmin does better with their next crop of Nuvi's. Features are useless if I can't depend on the device to work.

No problems with the 680 so far

I've had my 680 for about 8 months and have had no problems. I take it inside with me when I leave the car so it's not subjected the extremes other than when I get back in my car. I love it and wouldn't hesitate to purchase it again.

No Hesitations!

I Travel almost 100% for work in and around the US..and have had it for over a year now...so it takes a poundinjg in the Computer bags etc...I have no hesitation recommending it to anyone! When not in use I have a hard shell Logitech case that is used for the portable hard drives.

Cheers
