How to update NT 2008 to Nuvi 350

Currently, I have the NT V8 map in my Nuvi 350. I wanted to upgrade to the NT 2008 map. I can load various states using MapSource onto a SD card and it works fine. However, I wanted to install the completed update NT 2008 map into the Nuvi 350 hard drive. The problem is I don't have enough disk space. Do we just remove the largest img extension file from the unit and replace the NT 2008 img filen? I wanted to check with you resident expert first. Pleas advise? Thank you!

.

You don't update the preloaded map files by manually copying the .IMG files. You would need to RUN the update program from the update DVD. The process will overwrite the v8 maps on your GPS unit with the v2008 maps.

Are you saying that you have purchased the FULL version of City Navigator and have that on your computer and are trying to load the maps from that?

The City Navigator NT 2008

The City Navigator NT 2008 DVD disk does not appears to come with the RUN the update program feature. Instead, I have loaded this DVD into Mapsource in my computer. I am going to move the 965MB .IMG gmapprom file from my Nuvi unit so free up space. Then will use MapSource to upload the 1GB gmapsupp (NT 2008) file to my Nuvi unit. I think this will proivde the completed NT 2008 maps. Anyone, let me know if this will cause problems in my unit? Please advise?

Yes, it will cause you problems

If you read the back of the DVD case, it will tell you that the product you have is NOT an update DVD. You need the City Navigator NT 2008 UPDATE disk to accomplish this.

Thank you, Glenn for your

Thank you, Glenn for your reply. I transferred the 1GB (NT 2008)gmapsupp.img file using MapSource. Then rename it back to gmapprom.img. The unit appears to be working and no apparent problem at this point. What problem do your foresee or anticipate?

.

As long as you have a valid unlock code for the maps for the unit it onto which you loaded the maps, you shouldn't have a problem.

Apparently none

As long as you have the unlock code (as stated by MM), you should not have any problems.
