Searching Near a Different City

Anyone know how Garmin sorts cities?
When I search near a different city, a list of cities, with that name, appear for the various states.
However there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason on how it lists the cities.
Some cities are listed alphabetical by state and some are not.

i.e If I type in Louisville, the first state on the list is MD.
The fifth is KY.
If I enter Greenville, at first it appears aphabetical up to Greenville, WI then it's random after that.
It doesn't seem to be related to distance either.

Interesting..

My results were identical to both of your examples, in spite of the location differences.. the closest Louisville is 623.6 miles northeast of me in CO.
