2820 hangs on "Enabling Bluetooth"

Anyone had this problem? Bluetooth worked for a couple days and loved it but when I updated firmware to 3.30 it no longer works. When I go to enable it it just shows the spinning blue icon and "Enabling Bluetooth". It doesn't even get to the screen where it attempts to locate phones. I have reverted back to 3.10, restored defaults, removed user data, hard restart..the works. nada. Any ideas? Sent e-mail to Garmin, haven't heard back.

Thanks.

It is nice to see you again

Hi there Propak,
Welcome to our new site, we have missed you and we are so glad to have you here at the POI Factory:)

Would you like to have the same pic that you used on the old site?

Miss Poi

Propak I had the same

Propak
I had the same problem with my garmin 550 It wasn,t the gps that was at fault It was my Cell Phone. I had to figure out how to remove the 550 off my cell phone. When I got it off the Cell I just started over again and the bluetooth of the gps picked up my Verizon Cell phone. It was the cell phone that got jamed not the GPS. Hope this helps

same problem with c550

Hi,

I faced similar problem with my c550 after 2 days of use. I upgraded the software to version 5.20 and bluetooth firmware to 2.40 but the problem still persist.

Any clue ?

Initially

I had a problem with getting the phones (wife's and mine both Moto RZR's) to find the c550 or vise versa. At first I just wasn't patient enough.
I think how I finally got them to work was have the phone find the gps device, rather than have the gps find the phone. Once that was accomplished, no problems. I have the phone set up with BT to power on when the 550 "looks" for it. I haven't had any problems of any sort, with version 5.20 or the previous version.

........Garmin StreetPilot c550 / Nüvi 765...........

i'm having the same problem

i'm having the same problem as propak, does anyone have any ideas? the blutooth version is 2.4 , my phone is SE w850i

Ismonop above has it right.

Ismonop above has it right. First get the gps off your cell phone. After you get it off the cell shut it off for ten seconds and the turn it back on. Use the cell phone to locate bluetooth on your GPS.

PS It took me awhile to figure out how to get bluetooth off the cell but it can be done.

the problem is on the garmin unit. Whatever i do, i.e restarting, clearing user id, returning to factory settings has no effect on the bluetooth setting(garmin unit). When i get to the settings, the bluetooth is disabled and when i try to enable the bluetooth, the unit freezez with the word "enabling bluetooth" written across the face of the unit.

replace the unit

FYI, regarding the freezing issue with "enabling bluetooth" screen, Garmin support advised me to get the unit replaced.

Hangs on enabling Bluetooth

I have exactly the same issue. Upgraded to 3.30 firmware and unit simply cycles "Enabling Bluetooth". Ironically if I select Disable then the unit will get stuck on "Disabling Bluetooth" even though the Bluetooth is already disabled.

Have you heard anything back?

It's all about the journey, not the destination.

Replace the unit?

Okay, I haven't checked any return/replace policies, but I have exactly the same issue with the
'enabling bluetooth' function freezing the unit - and this came out of the blue after it working wonderfully since Christmas '07.

Is anyone aware of return/replace policies with Garmin?

Thanks.

I had this exact problem. I thought all was lost, but I tried the webupdater and updated my bluetooth firmware, and it worked!!!

That's going to be hard to do with a 2820. That unit has been discontinued for years.

It's weird that the few I see on ebay and other sights still seem to command so much money.

I have a 2730 and it's still going strong...

Maybe Garmin will repair it for you at a reasonable cost. Or perhaps they have a refurb 2820 they will sell you.
