Adding POI's to Mio C320

Any help on how to get this accomplished?
I have tried the POI downloader...I am pretty sure the POI's are on the sd card. But when I turn on the unit it will not start...says error and is restarting. Take the card out and it loads fine.
Any Help??
Thanks!

Adding POI's to Mio C320

It's not too difficult. Here's some guidelines:

  • POIs on the SD card have to be in a directory \POI off the root of the card. If the directory is not present, add it.
  • In order for the C320 to recognize the POI file it must be in .kml format, the same as is used by Google Earth. You can easily convert a csv file (or othe POI formats) using the web based GPS Visualizer, http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/map?form=googleearth . Make sure you add a header as the first line of the csv to specify the order, i.e.: "Longitude,Latitude,Description". If you need help getting started with GPS Visualizer, just let me know.
  • Once you have the kml file output by GPS Visualizer, place it in the \POI folder. The POIs in this file will show up in the My POI category with the name of the file as the subcategory.

I have a folder called poi

I have a folder called poi on my sd card. There is a file in there that shows to be kml. I used the poi loader to convert these from xls. If I try to start the c320 with the card in it will not start. Gets to a screen and says "error restarting"
Thanks!

SD Card

Did your C320 ever start up with the SD card inserted? If so, try renaming the POI folder. If it starts, then it must be the kml file itself causing the problem. POI files are read at start up so this could be the problem. Try a different kml file if the card is good. I can send you one that works in my c320 as a test.

Like it does a hard reset...is that normal? Sorry I know that last bit has nothing to do with POI's
Thanks!

mio 320

put the file you are trying to install into a folder that has been renamed the same as the file you are trying to install. access that file within the folder with poiloader it will put the file on your sd card you will find mio poiloader on the dvd that came with the 320

POI's on MIO

I found the IGO POI Explorer to be the easiest way to load POI's onto my mio

iGo POI Explorer

I just add the RestAreaCombined POI to my iGo.db by using iGo POI Explorer. It is easy to use.

DrWho_100,
Can I store iGo.db (instead of .kml format) in "POI" folder under root of SD Card? Will MioMap be able to detect it?

iGO.db

pat_ty

No, iGO.db has to in the woking Miomap directory on the flash drive. You can, however, add a new POI category or even individual POIs to iGO.db with iGO POI Explorer. Search Google for a download. POI categories added with iGO POI Explorer show up in your My POI main category.

C320 forgets configuration

In my C320, I click on "settings" "General" and "Advanced". I set the settings the way I want them and they work like that until the next time I exit MioMap and Start it again, then the all go back to factory default.

I admit previously I had tried a hack or two but thougth I moved all files back to original location.

My speedcamupdate.pud file had the "Read Only" attribute set, so I turn that off. Now, the only files I see with "r" are the map files.

Can anyone tell me where "settings" are stored in this C320?
