GPS File exchange

I have created a list of waypoints and tracks for a series of kayak trails. I did this on my Garmin eTrex, and have saved it to a website as a .GPX file, from where I can (and have) download it to other Garmin handhelds and marine GPS units.

My question is: Can Magellan, Tom Tom, and other handheld GPS units, and perhaps marine units, use GPX files? Or is there another protocol I should use to make it more universal?

GPX is designed for interchange

GPX was designed to be the interchange format between platforms. Most GPSr and GPS software can read it.
