North Carolina possibly has more active public Gem Mines than any other state. This is most of the more popular mines, but not all of them. I will continue to update it, as I find the coordinates to more mines. You pay a fee, and then you can mine your own gems, of various kinds, and keep whatever you find. Loads of fun, and addictive! Most of these have their own website, which you can visit for more information.
