Is there an Advanced search option for here?

I was wondering if there is any sort of advanced search to help narrow down the returned results. For example, if I only want to search "POI FIles", "Forum Topics", "Bitmaps", etc.

I haven't found it yet. If it doesn't exist, may I suggest it as an upgrade?

Well, uh.....

You may find what you are looking for at the top and also the right hand side of the page you are looking at right now.

I mean the Search function (search box)

No I think perhaps you misunderstood what I was getting at.

Currently, if you go to the main page, there is a Search box. You can type in a term and get all the results from that term from this web site. But there lies the problem, you get ALL the results from the forums, from the POI files, from the bitmap libraries, etc.

As an example, say I want to search POI files for all POI files that contain the word "Boston" in their title or description. Ideally I would like to be able to search *JUST* the POI files. But instead I get every mention of "Boston" in every Forum Topic, Icon library, etc. in addition to POI Files & POI Types (those are all categories shown by the search results by the way).

What I would like to be able to do is search for a specific site category and exclude the other ones. So maybe I want to find all the POI Files & POI Types, perhaps icons as well, but not MP3s and I don't want to see all the forum discussions that match the search term(s). If there is such a method here, I have yet to locate it.

Thanks,
PT

I misunderstood.

You are correct, I don't know of anyway to narrow the searches down either.

Work-Around

This doesn't answer your question directly, but may help as a work-around.

If you want to search all of the POI files you can go to the POI Files link at the top of the page and select View all POI files (listed alphabetically). Then (assuming Windows), you can do a CTRL + F. A Find window will appear ... just type in a combination of words in the POI File name you're looking for and it will find all text on that page with those exact characters.

Close but not as good as I would like.

Hey RT,

Ya that gets you part way there, assuming the maintainer of the POI was complete enough in the title to include the words you search for. But that list doesn't give you access to the descriptions where the keyword might be hidden rather than in the title. For example, the file "Massachusetts Area Hockey Rinks" also includes Southern New Hampshire. A search of New Hampshire will miss that one.

But it is a start, so thanks for the tip.
