POI AND COORDINATES

Does anyone know how to locate the coodinates in the nuvi 200 when you can't see them in the extras/poi.

I'd like to know as well.

I'd like to know as well. The 200 briefly displays the coordinates when a new POI is manually entered (by tapping the screen during screen view) so I know that it is storing the coordinates.
Since I'm in the process of logging/documenting all coordinates for speed cameras in the Wash. DC/Montgomery Co. area, and plan to provide them to Miss POI, I'd like to find a way to retrieve those coordinates that my Nuvi 200 initially reports.

MapSource

MapSource is what I use but there maybe other programs that can do the same.

computer

I guess I would like to see those coordinates in the nuvi without having to use a computer.

Sort of a round about way...

Hopefully someone can post with a simpler way, but one way I know for sure works is first turn off the GPS and put it into simulator mode (wrench -> Settings -> System GPS Simulator "ON").

Now use the where to and find which ever location is is you want to check. Pull it up to the point where the "Go!" button is there like you are going to drive there.

Hit the Map button to show the location on the Map.

Now Hit "Set Location" (which i don't think you get that button if you are not in simulation mode).

Push and Hold BACK to get back to the main screen and pick View Map. Your car is not at that location.

Now just tap the car and you will see the long/lat coordinates and the elevation.

Ya not at all quick and easy, but you can at last look up the coordinates that way.

As I said, maybe someone knows a more straight forward method on the 200 that I haven't figured out yet.

?

I'm curious though - why do you want to see the actual coordinates on the Nüvi?

Doesn't this feature belong to the days of using the coordinates to look at a paper map?

Transferring coordinates to/from the Nüvi is far less error-prone, if you let the PC do the job. You can use a Mac if you insist smile

(I was upset that my StreetPilot C510 couldn't display coordinates on-screen. But since I got my Nüvi 310 (which can), I've never made use of the feature).

I was wanting to compare the coordinates of each of my POI to what I had printed from web sites. I was having a problem with where geocaches were located. Thanks for your responses.

not sure if your nuvi 200 have the option of:
menu->where to->coordinates. You can enter the coordinates directly. If it doesn't display the same format, then you can change by selecting format.

Yes you can do that on the 200 but that is to go to or enter a location. I believe the original poster's need it to find the coordinates of things already entered in Favorites or POIs so that they can be checked in other places (Google Earth for example) to see how well they match up.

To the best of my knowledge, on the unit itself, there is not easy way to pull up a saved locations coordinates other than the rather involved method I outlines above.
