Who creates the POI Files

This is a great site. But I was wondering who creates these files that all the GPS compamies are using this is in reference to the ones that come preloaded in the GPS when they are purchased. Also how do we update the file if they are missing locations for example the dunkin dounuts file seems to be missing stores where I Live. Also I was trying to load the images for the particular POI like Walmark or WAWA and doid not see a way to add it to the Magellen poi editor. do any of the individual companies produce poi files for there locations of there stores.

creators of poi files

Its just people like you and me.. I have created some of the poi files and also d/led a lot of them.., sure there may be mastakes and such but we all are doing it for fun and to share with others.. No company (unless stated) is any sole resoponabe for the data.. I know that I have some problems in my ( such as the offbeat and the auto repair) but I count on the users here to help me out.. I have goten some corrections that I am currently fixing at this time..

Again, anyone can create these and upload them.. it is fun and chalangeing to do so.. give it a try, you will get hooked on it!!

Making .csv files

Where could I find some information on making .csv files. I also noticed that there are files with a different extension, .gpx. What is a gpx file?

I downloaded a sams .cvs poi and tried to modify it by widening the name. I wanted to add the city to the name, such as Sam's Independence rather than just nothing but "Sam's". Making the field wider did make the name come across ok, but it brought on an alert saying something about 1319 feet and 2 mph. Any idea what that is all about?

Thanks in advance.
