Seeing POIs downloaded

I probably have a stupid question, but I am new to this, but once I get the hang of it, it should be smooth sailing, I hope hahahah

Once I download POIs to my GPS, how can I see them? Also, If I have downloaded POI's, is there a way I can remove them from my Garmin 760?

try this page:

Seeing POIs downloaded

Go to "Where to?',then "Extras", then you will see custom POIs. When you hook your unit up to the computer, just go to the POI folder and delete any POI's you do not want.

Thank You

That is awesome. Thanks!!!

Now, once there, (i.e. red light), will it automatically detect it? I am a Special Ed School teacher and my city is putting these up near my school. I am very carefull, but this will help reinforce.

Again, thank you!

Yes - if the coordinates of the file are correct and you loaded the poi in manual mode so the alert is enabled it will automatically give you warning. You can pull up the image of the file by going to custom poi's and selecting one. At the bottom of the screen click the view map button and make sure it is in or near the intersection. If the icon is too far away from the road the unit will not alert.

OK. Quick question. Anytime

OK. Quick question. Anytime I download something on my Garmin 760, it looks like I have to reload the custom POIs. I downloaded something and lost my Red light and speed camera POI's. I have reloaded.

I have to remember to check!!

View Map Button

I don't seem to have the view map button. It has a button that says GO, and it calculates a route from my house to the spot. Is this correct?

See ...

See http://www.poi-factory.com/node/8779

Don't have to reload to you nuvi everytime.

Loading custom POIs

You can use Windows Explorer on your nuvi and rename
poi.gpi file in Garmin\poi folder so that next time you run poi loader, it won't be over written.
You might want to rename the static files that don't change often.

Many Folders

Yes, anytime you run poi loader, it will overwrite what was there. I have several folders set up on my computer.

1) the download folder - all files go here with date
2) My Poi's - current setup of gps
3) Trips / specials

This way if I want to add a file, I have a current setup already there and add to it. When I let other borrow one of the gpsr I can make a custom build for the city they are traveling to, then put it back to "normal" when they get back. Just a management suggestion of whoops - what did I have and not remember till your on the road and the file is not there!

Don't Know

I do not have a nuvi, so maybe it is not there. But on the streetpilots i've owned (c330, c550 and c580) they all had an icon in the middle bottom to "show map."

I go to Where to/extras/custom poi's/"store"/ and it will list all the locations. When I click on a particular location it will bring up the details and at the bottom its BACK/VIEW MAP/GO. Maybe they have changed it on the newer units.

Send the coordinates of the lights

Once these new lights get put in, get the coordinates and send them to this site so they can be put into the red-light area.

Also, just a suggestion. When loading POI's, why don't you just delete all POI's first (takes a split second) and then just reload all your POI's along with your new ones (this doesn't take long either). Just a thought.
