poi loading error

I get an error when using the poi loader to load custom poi into my Nuvi 350. The error says that there is a problem with (for example) line 217, which is the first blank line after the list ends. It also says any data after this point will not be loaded. It does not seem to effect anything. I still have the pois loaded and they all work, since all the points are before the 'bad point'.

Has anyone seen this error when using the POI Loader?

Yes

Yes. It happened when I had a blank line separating lon/lat information that I wasn't sure about.

If you don't see a blank line, you may still have blank cells. Try opening it with a text editor. You might see commas with nothing in between.

I have checked everywhere.

I have checked everywhere. I am going to try to re-create the csv file, and see if that helps.

If you want, send over the POI file and I'll have a look; or try POI Verifier. This problem happens often when using Excel. Excel will sometimes format files different than what you want. Highlight 5 full lines following the last line of data and do a 'delete'. Then highlight 5 full rows to the right of the last field and do a 'delete'. This usually removes any unwanted data. My guess is if you look at the file with Notepad you'll see something other than a blank line, like commas, following the 'theoretical last line'.

Thanks everyone. I am

Thanks everyone. I am cleaning up the excel files and I will run them thru the verifier. These csv files may be good to post if people are interested.

Thanks for the pointers. I

Thanks for the pointers. I cleaned up the files and still had an error on a couple. What happened is, when I created the csv, excel says something to the effect of "csv can not have more than one work sheet, would you like excel to delete the others". I said yes. However if I delete the worksheets when in xls form then create the csv, the error when using the poi loader goes away. Did anyone understand that?

What type of POI's are you working on?

I work for Kroger. I know

I work for Kroger. I know there is a kroger csv on this website, but I visit stores quite often. I took our store list and ran it thru the batch geocoder. So far, the stores I have been to are accurate. Once I get the files better arranged, I was going to post a thread about updating the csv already in the poi section. These are lists by Kroger division, (ie texas, Ralphs in California, qfc in Washington, etc.) But it is accurate to last week.

In a situation like this where you are an employee and have an actual list to work off of we will replace the old file with the file that you compile, and make a note in the details regarding where the info came from and who did the update.

What I have is 17 csv files

What I have is 17 csv files broke down by division/geograhic location. I could combine into one or I think it would be better to keep them seperate. That way if you only want Dillons in Kansas you dont need King Soopers in Colorado. When I have the files totally cleaned up, do I just need to upload? I guess I should post a thread telling everyone.

Example of how I will set it up

What I will do is make a POI Package like you see here: http://www.poi-factory.com/node/7899

It has the top picks, which is a combined file of all the ones below for those that want all of them.
