garmin owners manuals

I didn't get a manual with Nuvi 660 either. The Nuvi 660 has such a lack of features, the only thing it needs in the manual is where the power switch is anyway. If the other recent Garmin models are the same, I doubt there will be any need for a detailed manual of any sort.

I got only a startup guide but the units do have a help file built in. Click on the wrench on the menu screen and pick help. This has more information than the 'manual'. My guess is they are getting ideas from the software companies and forgoing full instruction manuals for on board e-manuals. Saves money and trees.

There isn't anything official out there other than the the help file already mentioned and of course the "getting started" guide. Everything I've learned about the Nuvi has been on the Internet, most of it here.

I agree that the manual, on line or in the unit is OK to get started but this is the site to figure out how and what to do with your GPS. Since joining back in October I have learned how to create and post a POI file (Mine is the North Carolina State Parks). I had to revise it several times as I learned how to better pinpoint the park entrances.

Garmin could do all GPSrs who buy their units to provide an information manual that explains how to expand your knowledge and use of the unit.

Hi All
Is there a way to know how much free space is left on a garmin c330 for poi's ?

I printed the 39 page manual and put it in a binder and referred to it often when I first got the unit. I don't understand why Garmin wouldn't want to included this in with the units. You would think they would want the end user to get the most out of the product.

P.S. Anyone know why they discontinued the C340? They still have the lower end C330 on the market.

The best way to learn is to ask questions here and look for other topics that may have already been discussed. And the old tried and true way...study!
Just ask here...everyone is real helpful and there is a lot of good tips too.

Unfortunately, no there isn't.

The only way to find out would be to try to load files of different sizes and see what fits..It is really too bad they didnt make it a mass storage device..maybe they can with Firmware...( But I doubt it)

Why would they want to do that...get another model that has that 'feature'. Its marketing, unfortunately.
