How Do You Orginize Your Downloaded POI's

Now that I have downloaded some POI's I was very excited to put my Roadmate 2200T to the test. So I Went to my Downloaded POI's and selected the nearest barnes & Noble.

To my supprise it pulled up all of the barnes and noble. Thus I had no way of choosing the correct Barnes & Noble that is nearest to my location.

So, my question is how do I orginize my Downloaded POI's so that when I choose nearest location I will get exactly that and nothing else?

Thanks again for all of your help.

Organizing POIs

Appreciate the problem. Although punching "Nearest" after selecting the Enhanced POI, you get a whole list and don't know until you select it, where it is or if it is in the direction of your travel, or preferred area. Thought about this on the project "Best Auto Repair Shop" and would suggest this solution for Magellans- don't know what the interface looks like on Garmans or other brands.
You need to know how to edit and sort data on a spreadsheet like Excel fairly competently, but its not that difficult.
The easiest way, I think would be edited the Name,(it must be unique for each location)for Barnes and Noble for example, make the Category Barnes & Noble or Bookstores if you want to include other vendors in that Category. Then the Name, you cheat a little bit. Put the city and street in the Name cell/column in front of an acronym for Barnes and Noble, 1.e "Akron 1st st B&N", Akron 11th AV B&N, Akron 12th St Bks mil, could be examples of name cells each which is unique. You can then tell at a glance when you selected Enhanced Category, Bookstores, and were in Akron, it would list all three stores, more info before making a choice which one to select. Upon selection you would then get more info on your selection and could route to it from that point on. Kind of a MM way of approaching the prob, but I think it should work. Going to do a similar edit and sort on my enhanced Rest Files
On a further note to make enhanced POI files more useful, you may want to consider building a larger enhanced POI file with multiple categories.
The better long term solution is for GPS vendors to make the POI files in their units directly editable or seamlessly incorporated enhanced POIs into their built in databases.
Have fun. You've nothing but time right?

Nearest POI

This may not apply to you 'cause I'm using a 4000 but.......
When I select "nearest" from a custom POI file, it brings up a list and shows only the names. Would be nice if it would show other info. fields too; there is plenty of room on the screen.

Anyway, I have found that they actually ARE listed with the closest first but you can't really tell that unless you select a few at the top of the list and see the rest of the fields, like description (address).

This also assumes, of course, that you are using a "valid" POI file. If you switch LON and LAT in the conversion process and didn't notice, all your points end up in SE Asia or the Indian Ocean and none are really "close". laugh out loud
