So, according to the last sentence of the article, if everyone has this feature I guess our best bet will be to drive INTO the traffic situation since everyone will be clogging the "detours".

It'll never happen in Toronto!

I'm happy to state that in Toronto, we won't ever have to worry about real time traffic alerts because they'll never implement anything like that here. Our neo-communist city hall likes traffic jams because they think we'll eventually get fed up of them and hop on the bus...and head right smack into another traffic jam except instead of being comfortable in our car for hours listening to music we'll be on the bus for hours smelling some guy who forgot to shower.
