garmin nuvi 260

I recently purchased the nuvi.
I was trying to download some of the vehicles for it from the garmin website.
The download to my computer was successful, however, I have no idea how to now load them into the GPS!!!
The site gives directions how to do it, but I am still lost!
When I plug the unit inot the computer, there is a screen that appears on the unit showing it is connected, but I am unable to get it to move from this mode.
PLEASE HELP!!!!!!

It is a mass Storage device

Your Nuvi should Show up as a Disk Storage drive when you attach it to the PC..There should already be a Folder that is marked Vehicle you can Drag and Drop all the Vehicles into this Folder..and then chose the one you want..from, your Nuvi

touch the Wrench
then...Map
then the bottom choice will be Vehicle...have fun

Thank you for your reply.
I understand what you are saying, but once it is connected, nothing happens on the screen.
I can't move it out of the mode it is in.
I will try again, but when I did it the other day, I tried many different things to no avail. sad

.

The GPS unit enters "USB Mass Storage Mode" when connected to your computer. You won't be making the adjustments on the unit itself.

You need to go to My Computer (on your computer) and navigate to the GARMIN drive. Then look for the vehicles folder. Once you unzip the vehicle files that you want to load to your nuvi, copy those unzipped files to the vehicles folder on the GARMIN drive of your nuvi. Then when you disconnect the nuvi from your computer, the vehicle icons will show up in the menus.

They are all correct above,

They are all correct above, just a note. Make sure that you move the vehicle file over to the folder, not the zip file. In other words, the file that you move over should be the...

So there should be a drive for the garmin somewhere on my computer?
I am unable to find it!
No disc came with the unit so maybe that's why?
I guess I am becoming computer illiterate!

Aw, that is ok, that is what

Aw, that is ok, that is what we are here for.

Try this...

1) Right click on "My computer" on the desktop (not the desktop that your computer is sitting on, but the virtual one)
2) Select "Explore"
3) You should then see a drive called "nuvi".
4) Click on it (in the left window pane). You should see the Garmin folder

Oh yeah, make sure that the nüvi is plugged into a usb port first.

Thanks I tried everything.

Thanks I tried everything. I kept loading the vehicles to my c: drive. Copying directly to the device worked!
