Secret Nuvi 350 vehicle pointer

When I first got my Nuvi 350 and was playing with all the options, I managed to get a blue vehicle pointer that was different than the other pointers that were in the Vehicle folder. I liked it better than the others, but could never get it back after I had played around with the other cool vehicles. It's a blue pointer, but longer and "pointier" than the standard one.

See the screen shot - it's longer, so there's never a question about which direction it's pointing in when you're in North Up mode.

The only way to get this pointer is to delete all the other vehicle files in the vehicle folder. It will never show in the list so you can't select it as long as there are other vehicle files present. Obviously, you should back up all your vehicles first. I guess this one is built into the firmware and is loaded by default if there are no other vehicle files. Be warned that I read somewhere (here?) that some models might not boot up if there are no vehicles installed. Works fine with the Nuvi 350, though.

comparaison

Can you add a picture of the "standard" pointer for comparaison?

Garmin Garage is the place to go

www.garmin.com/vehicles/ Are you aware of the cool 3D Arrow over on the Garmin Garage free for downloading?

The 3D Arrow is an improved version of the one you are using. It uses some cool shadowing below the arrow to give it an awesome look on the map display.

Hadn't been to the garage before. And that's a great arrow. I'll try it out!

Let us know what you think...

That is my particular default vehicle when going around town. I love the hovering look. During air travel though I change it to the Garmin Man plane wink

88 West? You must be in Chicago. Thanks for the tip-this makes it much easier to see. The small pointers can be a real bear to make out when you're driving and can't always see them due to screen angle.
