Live Links in Posts

Ladies & gentz,

Let's have the "copy and paste" feature a thing of the past by making the web links in our posts live (active)...

Just place the url as a text in your comments and, before submitting the post, above the "post comment" button, hit the "input format" and select "Filtered HTML with Hyperlinks".
Is that easy and it makes a big difference.

Now why didn't I think of that. This site is the best for helping others. Thanks for the information...

I think that the way this

I think that the way this feature is set up is that you have to have that cute little windmill to make it work.

Miss Poi

Thanks!

I've been an active member for about 31 weeks, and I never realized that was possible. That is very good to know for future posts.

Doesn't seem quite so, see http://www.poi-factory.com/node/8007 for an example: the 5th comment was posted by Ein -> live link, w/o the cute little windmill spinning...

If I see a link I go in and

If I see a link I go in and make it live:)

Miss Poi

I can't believe I missed that at the bottom

I usually poke a click on everything and find those things.

Don't see it?

I don't have the "input format" you are talking about.

FYI; Most discussion/forum software has this feature built in and simply recognizes the links in your text and converts them on the fly. The Poi-Factory is pretty basic with no such bells and whistles. sad

This is what I see above the Post Comment button

I believe Miss Poi said that you have to have a windmill for that to be active.

I didn't have a clue what she was talking about. But now I see what you guys are talking about. The windmill badge icon sitting next to the user name correct?

Windmill = Active User status?

Looks like I need to go back to language class and take POI 101 wink

You have to go into the input format area to change it. I am working on getting Jon to agree to make all hyper links automatic so I don't have to change them.

Miss POI

Automatic Hyperlinks

The automatic hyperlink feature we installed a couple months ago has been working well, so I've enabled it for all new posts.

Now you no longer need to select "Filtered HTML with Hyperlinks" to get a clickable link.

another small refinement?

That was absolutely a much needed improvement! but can we refine it, please???
Previously, I was able to insert live links in bold characters, like www.poi-factory.com; now, it's only www.poi-factory.com I did like the blue bold text to emphasize the weblink in the middle of a lengthy text... can you see the difference?

Also, when clicking a link, wouldn't be better to make it automatically open in a new window?
