RedLight alert bug in the Garmin 680?

I was driving around today and was playing music off the 1GB SD I had loaded up with my favorite songs. It works really well using the FM transmitter feature.

As I approach a red light camera intersection the nuvi correctly pulls up the visual alert bar but instead of pausing the song then playing the alert mp3 file it switches to the next song in the play list? Now this happens every time it wants to play the red light alert file which is a couple of times going through the intersection. So by the time I get through an intersection instead of pausing the song I was listening to it is now advanced up about 3 songs in the playlist and the alert never did play. This happened on all 4 red light intersections I went through.

If I manually stopped the music from playing and then approached the next red light camera it worked fine. I don't remember this happening before I tried using this SD card.

I have the same problem in

I have the same problem in my Garmin 650. I think this is because the alert is a MP3 file, you can not jump to another MP3 file while playing a MP3 file. The TTS is a vmp file, possibly Garmin able to handle 2 differnt file type at the same time, but not the same file type at the same time.

Will somebody make an alert voice into a vmp file and try it out?

Are you referring to a .vpm file instead of vmp?

7xx has it fixed.

I have the 760 too and this problem doesn't exist so it apparently is a bug that Garmin fixed in the 7xx series

Ir they just haven't introduced the bug there yet. From another discussion on this here, it seems that this bug appeared with firmware updates on at least a couple of Nuvi series.
