POI Factory News 1/5

The last couple weeks have been busy at POI Factory. The pace has really picked up since Christmas. I think a lot of people received GPS gear over the holidays and are finding their way to the POI Factory. It's nice to see that many are sticking around and becoming regular contributors.

Behind the scenes this week, Miss poi and I have been catching up on maintenance after taking a little time away over the holidays. I just finished some programming for the POI Database tool so that Miss poi can use it to update the Red Light Camera file. The tool now checks for possible duplicates (nearby POI) as you enter or update a location. Robert660 and GC0110 have also been actively using the tool as part of the beta test we started in December. It still needs a little work before it's ready to roll out to everyone on the site.

Recently, there has been a lot of interest for including BMP files with the POI files, so I need to work out a better way to provide these with the downloads.

A couple times this week, Miss poi and I have had cases where users have sent us messages through the contact form, but we have been unable to reach them with a response because our email is bounced back. Please make sure the email address in your profile is working or provide some other means for us to reach you if you need a response.

Last topic -- If anyone with graphic arts skills wants to suggest ways to spruce up the logo at the top of the page, Miss poi and I would be very interested in hearing from you. Neither of us have the skills to create a proper logo.
