The best way to learn is to read the FAQS

Link is located on top of page and then do a search with the subjects you want to learn about . There is a wealth of info here at POI Factory for everything involving POIs, POI Icons, making your own POI files !
Enjoy your new toy - you are now "hooked" !!!!!

Welcome

I am fairly new myself, but this is a very friendly place and so much to read and learn. I am still waiting for my Nuvi 650 (ordered it on the 17th) It would have been here Thursday if not for the Holiday.

There is a lot of info under "getting started" and "FAQ" sections. Start there first!

Yes, read, then read some more

Read the getting started, and the faq's then ALL the posts.
Search when you get stuck, and when you are really stuck...ask.

Hello

Hi,

New member here. Recently purchased a Garmin Nuvi 350 and I like it a lot. I'm hoping to add my local red light cameras to the main POI file for those. That is, if they are not already there.

Welcome Chip

Don't be a stranger, and don't be afraid to ask questions...however a lot of the beginning questions are easily answered by reading the "getting started" and "faq" sections. You can probably get by w/o reading all the posts..lol

Note to Newbies

I know when I registered my C330 with Garmin at MyGarmin.com I got an Email from them thanking me and giving me a 10% discount from the Garmin Store..to get Accessories. It is also a great Idea to Register your Garmin, Just in case it is Stolen it is registered to you.

I just got a c340 for my bike and car, used it for a trip from LI,NY to Mass on sat, it worked great, I found this site when I was trying to figure out this whole POI thing, I was able to create and download a couple of test ones. Thanks

I see other riders here how do you guys tie the unit down, I plan on getting a ram-mount and they seem to recommend a tether but I didn't see them for sale?

Geez, I now know that I live in a small town. By looking at all the poi's and not finding too much for my area I've come to realize I'll have to move to a big city to utilize the full potential of this high tootin gizmo gps thing-a-ma-gig--:}

Hi

Hi and welcome to our really nice group of people!!!

Newbie

I'm a newbie, too. I bought a Garmin C530 in June and then, just a couple of weeks ago, found this site. Lots of helpful information. I'm not much of a computer whiz, but I managed to put my Airedale's picture in as the splash screen.

I'm now in a small town, but my 350 demands for Starbucks, curses at the red light cameras, and begs for tasting at a winery.

I bet your "small" town has lots to offer!

Maybe your town has more to offer then you know. GPS manufacturers typically only include about 25% of all available POI's. NavTeq and TeleAtlas know of them all, so they ARE out there. But typically, a given GPS won't show them all.

Happy driving!
