Walmart

Is anyone still maintaining this file http://www.poi-factory.com/node/4307 ? I find it very useful and would like to see it updated once in awhile.

I have a list

I have received a list of the most current Walmart and super walmart data and would be willing to forward it to anyone willing to decipher it and update the file.

WalMart file

I downloaded (and installed) the WalMart file on my 650, had no problems with the installation, in fact, it has warned me when I’m near a Wal-mart, keeps on announcing it.

However, soon as I saw your post (Maryann) I took the file and looked at it. I made up a database, read in the records. Well, all but two records, both of which had quotes inside the record. I erased the errant quotes and the file read in with no errors. (I count 3962 records.)

Anyway, I can (try to) take care of those new entries for you, although maybe I better ask you what you mean by “decipher.” What information do I have to dig up? And I also have a question about the spaces in between the address part of each record. Does that need to be there, and how much space? I’m new to this CSV thing, you’ll have to be gentle....

When you just pick your brains out of your heads and offer them to my talons:)

What I have is a long list that has addresses and phone numbers. The data is ready to be geocoded. You may want to figure out which locations are new first.
Miss Poi

Uh-oh...

Can you send me the new addition list, let me take a look? How long is it?

mwaaaaa hhhaaaaa haaaa haaaa haaaa, yes that is supposed to be my evil villain laugh... I am sending the file now...

Miss POI

Mistress of POI and brain sucker

I just looked at it...

WOW. Not sure I'm up to that... Let me work on that a bit. I guess I have to figure out the new from the old? Maybe by store numbers, I think.

The "new" file should be separate from the "old" file, so all we have to do is add in the new/changed ones.

My head is spinning!

I usually get $200 an hour for doing this. smile

Don't worry... I'm sure

Don't worry... I'm sure WalMart is pretty close to having the capability to track customers driving on the highway, and alert them whenever you're near a store. They'll find you...

Wal-Mart Update

Hi. I see you have a Wal-Mart update that is later than the file that is available. I saw where some people were working on it, but I don't know if they ever finished. How can I get a copy of your update, if it is still available? Thanks Ray

Wal-Mart Update

Thanks Ismonop. That's cool.

I neglected to address my first reply to Miss POI, I guess. I looked at the 2 POI files for Wal-Mart, dated earlier in the year, and Miss Poi had an update later in the year. I noticed at least the one store in my area wasn't listed. Then, when I looked at the 2 files I noticed they must have been geocoded using different resolvers. So, I will attempt to figure out which ones are the more accurate and combine them without duplicates. Then, I would like to merge whatever updates would be made available. Unless someone has already done this. Please let me know.

Miss Poi, is your update still available? Thanks Ray

I know that someone updated

I know that someone updated the info recently, I will investigate it later this afternoon. I am doing a quick forum check right now and then I have errands that will keep me busy all morning. We will get it figured out.
