Text messages on Garmin

I saw a blurb on the Amazon website citing the following:

"Garmin has announced free software updates allowing you to send and receive text messages for anyone that's purchased either the StreetPilot c550, Nuvi 660, or Nuvi 360 GPS units. The new updates also allow you to hear the text message read aloud with Garmin's text-to-speech (TSS) technology. New units sold by Amazon.com will already contain this update."

I never tried this. Will it work with any phone?

It works with phones that do the BlueTooth twinning thing and allow external sending of text messages. If your phone lets your computer send text messages through it, then the nüvi will be able to do the same thing. I hesistate to just tell you it'll work because of all the different models and protocols involved so I can really only tell you to try it.

Registry Values

I am using a program on my cingular 3125 smartphone that maps cell towers through the Nuvi and phone. In order to do this I had to change some registry values in the phone so the program would identify my phone via bluetooth. I never tried the text message. You may look at a free forum called howardforums. It is geared to cell phones and mods.
