Garmin c330 not accepting POIs

I have a Garmin c330 and tried to load some POIs onto it but got a message saying there was not enough space.

I bought a 1GB SD card and put that into the Garmin. When I try to load the POIs onto the machine it still says that there is not enough space.

How can that be? What am I doing wrong?

Any help would be incredibly appreciated as I'm pulling out my hair over this one.

Check SD card

First you need to make sure your SD card is in all the way..and in the Correct way. I just learned this here, but there is a diagnostic Screen, when you turn on your 330 and get the Where to? and Maps Screen, Dont choose either,,But touch the Upper right hand corner for 5 seconds and it will take you into diagnostics, it will say How much Memory is available.

I would think a C330 would have some memory left without the card for a POI file anyway. You are using POI loader??

.

Unfortunately, the c330 will not read the Custom POIs from the SD card. You aren't doing anything wrong.

If you don't have enough space on the unit itself (which is odd. Do you have the updated maps?), then I would think that the only work around is to reduce the number of POIs you are loading because since that unit also won't show up on your computer as a drive, there's no way of determining the space available or what files might be deleted to create space.

Exceeding the c330’s limit on memory used for POI files is not hard to do. I have gotten an error about there not being enough space more than once. I just had to pick the POIs that were of the most useful to load and only load the infrequently used ones as needed.

loading poi's on c330

I have over 18000 poi's loaded on my c330. you should have room for just as many on your unit. If you have the latest map update(city nav 2008), I understand the 330 does not have memory to handle both north america and canada. If this is the case you are out of memory. if not, you should have plenty of room.

I attempted to load the schools for the entire USA 170,258 POIs), Walmarts, Ham Radio Repeaters, and Red light cameras, but ran out of space. I have not loaded the schools POI, so I should have less than 18K.

SD Card - Maps - Poi

If you search the factory history, someone said that they put Canada on the c330, and the US on the card. It allowed more room on the unit for poi's.

One thing that I have done is to edit the csv files for only the states I will be traveling in. For most of them that has not been very difficult in Excel. I was not able to get anywhere near 18,000.

Realize (as I initially failed to do) that the c330 will only ding on alerts, not speak mp3 files...so no use in loading them.

POI

You can also use POI Verifier to pull out the POIs for specific states.
