As the technology is developing, the installation of red light cameras is also changing. Couple of years ago Town of Vienna and The City of Falls Church in Fairfax County, Virginia installed new types of cameras in their busy intersections. These cameras are video cameras which records the red light crossers, not only the still picture but the whole movement of that particular moment. The resolution of these cameras are high enough to record vehicle along with the tag number very clearly even in low light . Plus, they are equiped with additional lights for night time use.
As I mentioned earlier, these cameras are not traditional cameras which flashes when somebody crosses the red light. They take pictures silently. No flashes, just surprises when you get a ticket on mail. That ticket may be for the red light crossing or for speeding, or both.
so, dear friends, drive carefully, be safe and avoid "surprises."
