New Nuvi 660

Hi all,

Got my first GPS device, the nuvi 660...so far love what it can do...My question is does the new SD Memory card with SDHC with the nuvi 660 also what's the limit capacity it can take??

Thank you,

New Nuvi 660

Glad to hear of your new love for GPS...I also just purchased the Nuvi 680 and am impressed with the capabilities and see so much potential for other future upgrades. I am sure there will be future enhancements of...

...golf course tours.
...advertising on the GPS
...coupons
...attaching printers to it
...virtual tours
...radar detection?
...movies

The Garmin SD card max memory is 512MB. It sells for $150USD. I found it is better to get a generic card - either 2GB or 4GB for under $100 on ebay.

Just my opinion.

Hi jcmilan,

thanks for the info, I almost bought the 680, because i would like to have the msn features...but the extra $200 bucks backed me off....

Also i plan to get the SDHC 4gb but not sure if it's compatible...

Where did you get those prices?

The 512MB SD from Garmin is listed at $29.99 USD.

Typical 2GB SD cards will run you ~$20 from a well known brands such as Kingston, Corsair, PNY, etc.

Even the high-end high-performance SD cards like SanDisk Ultra II 2GB (for digital SLRs and an overkill for Nuvi) can be bought for an everyday price of $33.

For 4GB SD, you can get one from Lexar and Kodak for ~$60.

Yeah, i'll go and shop for one today...thanks for the info.

Costco has good prices, too

I like shopping at Costco, espcially since I get a 2% executive member rebate!!! Fair-to-good prices for memory cards, and excellent customer service.

Skip nuvi 660

Also check out Newegg

I build custom PCs as hobby (well, next to Golf that is) and I've always ordered from Newegg and never had any problems with their customer service when I did have product issues (6+ years). This and Garmin are two companies I would recommend without hesitation.

P.S. I have both Costo exec and Sam's business memberships, but neither carries wide selections of items like SD cards.

Nuvi 660 4GB SD cards

Does anyone have the definitive answer to which 4 GB SD cards work with the Nuvi 660? I have seen some information that Nuvi is incompatible with the new SDHC cards and some posts saying Nuvi works with SDHC. I have also seen some posts suggesting that you must have a 150X SD card to work with Nuvi. I have a 2 GB vanilla SD card that works great. Can someone tell us a particular 4 GB SD card that works with their Nuvi?

Thanks in advance.

I use a 4GB ScanDisc HC

And have had it in a Nuvi 350 and a 660 - works just fine for me - have less than 200mb free. The rest is MP3s.
