Just returned from my first airline trip in a few years. Declined having TSA photograph my face for facial recognition. TSA claims they don't save the imagery, or use it for other purposes like police or immigration but they're awfully insistent about getting that picture. Often there is a hidden agenda.

It's everywhere
According to a quick Google search, 39 states already use drivers licenses for facial recognition. I remember, the last time I renewed my NJ license, they took the picture in a way to make it compatible with their software. Google also says that 21 of those states share the images with outside law enforcement.
I think that battle was fought and lost long ago, I would assume that your face is being scanned and compared to databases the minute you step in the door of an airport. Me? I haven't been on an airplane in over 10 years... best years of my life!

Facial Recognition
For some reason, my name was on some government list of possible terrorists. It was a hassle when flying, since I was subjected to more intense security screenings in every airport.
When the TSA started their pre check program, I signed up. Since I was on the "list", the interview process took 3 times longer than it did for my wife.
Having my picture in the TSA database made flying so much easier. I have mixed feelings about it, but it's worth it in my case anyway.
good for me
TSA pre-check has been good for me.
