My medical journey ... so far

Busy week helping my doctors to put their kids thru college.
First a colonoscopy to see if the tumor that started my cancer journey is gone, it is, nothing but scarring in the area, but one large polyp past that spot, probably there when he found the cancer but since he couldn't get past the tumor the last time it went unseen.
Of course in keeping with my Murphy's Law of a life I actually had a colonoscopy two days in a row, the first day I wasn't cleaned out enough, even though I followed all the directions to a T. One day of the actual clean out prep sucks, I had to repeat it for a second day.
Anyway good news there, although I had stage four cancer, meaning it spread to other organs and even though those scans have come back clean a few times the oncologist says it could come back.
Next up the wound care doctor. Saw him first thing in the morning and had two circulation tests in the afternoon since the grafts seemed to have stopped working. Now they are searching for clues as to why my leg wound, which has been lingering for about a year, just won't heal. Haven't had those results explained to me yet.
PSA: take care of your body when you are young. Humans are not invincible. What you neglect as a youngster will haunt you in your senior years.
In other news ... my wife reminded me of something, she sent me a photo of a coin. Today (July 13) is my clean/sober anniversary. 14,254 days, 39 years. I forgot all about it. I don't go to meetings anymore, so two parts of the coin I do not do anymore. I am in recovery I suppose. Honestly, I'm just living life best I can in spite of all my medical issues on most days. I don't even think about being sober, it's part of me, just doing what I'm supposed to do.
As always brother
Only the very best to you on that journey
Never argue with a pig. It makes you look foolish and it anoys the hell out of the pig!

When we are young, we think we’re invincible
Turns out, we’re not. In 1967 I was running a convoy from Saigon to Ben Hoa and back. We were driving north on Highway 1 and a 123 was flying south to the west of us spraying some kind of chemical. The prevailing winds were blowing this stuff on top of us. We laughed about it and just rubbed it on our skin. It was Agent Orange and 53 years later, I was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer. No fault of our own other than rubbing the stuff into our skin, but we were young and nothing could hurt us at that age. I tell my grandkids to take care of themselves now because what they do now can hurt them later on in life. Congrats on the progress that you have made so far and also on the 39 year mark. Thank you for keeping us posted on your journey! You are in our thoughts.

I just had a colonoscopy and an endoscopy at same time. I can relate to the cleanout. Keep trucking, sounds like things are going well. Great.
