Lost Junction Views - Confirm A Hypothesis

I'm playing detective, because to be honest, this bugs me a bit more than it should. It would be so much easier if Garmin gave a clear answer to this, but they haven't.

Would someone owning a Garmin Drive 53 that has been updated to 2026.10 please post a screenshot of a junction view and its coordinates? As an alternative, posting the entire file or at least its size on disk could also be useful.

I need to confirm a random statement posted on NavTotal regarding the lost junction views on some devices. The junction view from the Drive 53 I want to compare to my DS65. If the images are the same, then it would confirm the likely reason the essential series devices lost their junction views: Garmin discontinued the raster junction view files those units used.

Muddying the waters of this theory a little is the fact the 1100 - 1400-series units lost their 30MB photoreal junction view files. I believe those files were removed for a very simple reason: Garmin finally realized that the included junction view files were stupidly useless, and given that many of those devices are likely not used today due to disintegrating plastic - my 1300LM literally fell apart in my hands - it was easier to just get rid of them. Users who didn't know about the large JCV file wouldn't notice anything different, and those who did know about the large file would continue to get it from here or other sites.

Keeping My Windmill Going

I am revisiting this post I made, because I finally found some time to do research. And...I can confirm that the devices that lost junction view support lost it because Garmin stopped offering raster junction view files. In other words, unless your device includes photoreal junction view, your junction view is gone for good. This is because the Drive 53 has photoreal junction view.

As for the 1100 - 1400-series units? Still an open question but one that doesn't matter much thanks to users providing the large JCV file.

Thanks. Good to know.

The last small junction view

The last small junction view files that I received on my 1390T was on the 2025.10 map. Small junction view files disappeared on the 2025.20 map install.
