POI downloads inserting wierd chars.

Whenever I run POISync, which downloads multi POI files, somehow 4 digit numbers are being inserted into some of the downloaded files. Looks like about every 100 lines they are inserted. No other rhyme or reason.
To Elaborate
In the above post, I mention POISync. When I download a single POI, (ex: Fuelman_MO), it plugs the 4 digit number in, also. Weird.

Hmm
Are the numbers completely random or are they related to something like the Factory's file number or the position of the file on your Garmin?

utf8 ?
could it be the ascii representation of some utf8 character that does not display properly
I have to run a lot of third party poi sets thru a diacritics stripper to replace ordinal vowels, accented, careted, characters, with straight ascii characters
I live in Canada, a lot of french placenames mess up the gps

Montreal works

Sorry About The Delay
I was too busy the last two days. It is a blank line followed by a 3 or 4
characters. As I said before, it happens about every 100 lines, Example below:

I downloaded over 200 files with POISync, and it only happened to about 10 or 12 files. I'm totally stumped.

POISYNC
The program is 14 years old as it was developed and released in 2010. That puts it in the Win98/Win7 days. My guess is Windows has changed so much the program is no longer compatible with the current W11 release.

Is OneDrive invlved.
Is there any possibility that some intermediate step of downloading and saving involves OneDrive? Many years ago there was an issue with OneDrive changing file names when it was an intermediary storage device. It mainly affected Microsoft products like Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc. but I’m aware of some other instances of file renaming with some engineering apps.

No
Even when I byoass POISync, and download a fPOI file straight to my PC, it happens.

Based upon the appearance of
Based upon the appearance of the numbers, the program is for some reason translating random lines into hexadecimal notation.
If there is alternative software out there that performs this same function, try using it and see if the problem occurs. If it doesn't, POISync is the problem. Otherwise the problem lies somewhere else, possibly Windows itself.

A Favor
Could some one download Fuelman_MO, the .csv version, and tell me what you see when you edit it?

One more thing
I am doing a straight download. No program to interfere, although, like Strephon says above, it could be Windows itself.

POI downloads inserting weird chars.
I'm seeing the same thing when I download the file on my Mac. I just downloaded the file by clicking on it. I then opened the file with Microsoft Visual Studio and sorted the file in ascending order and those "line numbers" appear now on the bottom. Easy to select and delete.

GPX to CSV converstion
The CSV file is auto generated from the info contained in the GPX file. From a quick look, I didn't see anything unusual about the GPX source file, so it looks like there might be some sort of issue with the conversion process.
I made myself a note to look into it later next week.
