New Speed Control Device Found

Just saw an item on the local news about a new type of speed trap: Cardboard COP Cutout.

Symrna, Tennessee has a new way of enforcing the speed limit, they employ a life-sized cardboard cutout of one of their own, Sgt. Andy Miller, holding a radar gun.

Funny thing is it's working!

Miss POI consider this a report of an enforcement device! smile

Our local PD used to park a police car in the median of a busy highway with a manikin dressed in a police uniform behind the wheel. Haven't seen them do that in a while though.

LOL

The funniest part is that it gets people to slow down. smile

Hair dryer as radar gun

It doesn't take much to gets cars to slow down; Try this; Take a hair dryer to a major street and point it at cars, you will see how fast they slow down. A junked (smashed up) car on the side of a major street works too. "Speed checked by Radar" signs in areas work also.

In IL

In Il, The state police use to park their cars (unattended) along the tollways. Also I have heard of one Il State trooper who use to dress up a bum picking up cans with his radar in a bag.

The other day here in TN they put up one of these radar displays was put on a road, then a sheriff sat a short distance after it.

Sorry, but if you are still speeding when there is a radar signal, then you deserve to get pulled. Here is my take one the above scenerio. If you use a radar detector, which I always do, then you should get pulled if you go past the sign and keep speeding with a radar signal. If you dont use a RD, then they gave you fair warning, and you still should get a ticket.

There are so many things that you can do (if you want to intentionally speed) to avoid tickets, most of all use common sense.
